Digital Citizenship Ambassadors
Digital Citizenship Ambassadors (SubProject#6), (Northwestern University in Qatar (NU-Q), Qatar University (QU), HBKU College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS), Doha International Family Institute (DIFI), University of Salamanca (USAL), HBKU College of Science and Engineering (CSE), HBKU Qatar Computing Research Institute (QCRI)), we will produce andragogic and pedagogic material and disseminate it through a volunteering ambassador program within Qatar.
Empowering citizens through ICTs has remained a key objective of governments and education systems over the last two decades. This project, therefore, seeks to design, develop, implement and evaluate a program to train digital citizenship ambassadors in Qatar. Through an initial intervention, this subproject will consolidate a collaborative research network to explore digital citizenship in Qatar: how digital citizenship is fostered in the education sector in Qatar; what is its implications on governance and educational policies; and how to motivate developing inclusive, creative and knowledgeable national digital citizenry. We will conduct a series of consultation and dissemination events. The research team will bring together the public and voluntary sectors, educators and policymakers, civic society, industry, academics, and young people. We aim to assess and enhance public knowledge about Qatar’s technological, political, and cultural infrastructures mediating digital citizenship. This set of iterative consultations and discussions will aid us in identifying gaps and co-designing and co-producing a training program aimed at up-skilling a cohort of community facilitators who will champion the enhancement of digital citizenship in Qatar
